SAA streamlines import check-in

SAA CARGO has upgraded its Radio Frequency Warehouse Management system in Johannesburg. The system operates through various access points that are strategically placed throughout the warehouse. ‑This allows the operational staff to move around within the warehouse with the barcode equipment. If the signal from the allocated access point weakens it will detect another access point and keep its connectivity to the ZEBRA Barcode system. ‑“This enhancement streamlines the import check-in process, allowing SAA Cargo to more easily meet service standards,” says IT manager Fanie Schoeman. “The warehouse management system also plays an integral role in accurate acceptance, location and loading/manifesting of cargo in the airline’s forwarding departments.” The East London office recently went online with the new barcode technology and other domestic station upgrades are scheduled for early 2005.
