SOUTH AFRICAN Airways pilot Gabriel Ndabandaba died tragically while participating in the Vereeniging Airshow at the weekend. Son of MEC for Agriculture in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Professor Lindumusa Gabriel Ndabandaba, the 27-year-old flew for the Sasol Tiger Aerobatic Formation Team. A second pilot in the same aircraft was also fatally injured during the accident, the cause of which has not yet been determined. An investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority is under way. Ndabandaba, who was passionate about flying, flew SAA’s newest Airbus A340 aircraft on the airline’s international routes. He joined SAA in July 2004.
