SAA has denied claims that it is expecting to replace current acting CEO, Nico Bezuidenhout, as reported in the July 17 issue of Business Day.
Spokesperson Tlali Tlali issued a statement condemning the “baseless rumour-mongering around SAA, such as the unsubstantiated gossip published in Friday’s Business Day,” which said that Bezuidemhout was “expected to vacate his position to make way for SAA GM of operations Zukiswa Ramasia,” who would take over from him on an acting basis.
Tlali argues: “SAA remains focused on turning around the business and Mr Bezuidenhout’s interim leadership has been critical in returning SAA to relative stability. He remains committed to the SAA Group and this is fully recognised by the shareholders, the Board, his management colleagues, staff and key stakeholders.”
At a press briefing on June 30, at which eTNW was present, Bezuidenhout told journalists: “At this point in time I remain focused on the job. There is no date on the table as to when my job expires.”
