SAA appoints new Europe cargo head

South African Airways (SAA) has promoted Giuseppe Tarantini to become its new regional general manager Europe - cargo. He replaces Wolfgang Els, who is retiring after 35 years with the airline. In his new post, Tarantini will be responsible for all aspects of cargo operations at the airline’s online stations in Frankfurt, London, Paris and Zurich, plus its many offline sales operations throughout Europe and Eastern Europe. Tarantini - who is fluent in English, German, Italian and French - has spent 17 years in a variety of posts for Swissair and its successor, Swiss International, based initially in his native Italy and later Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Most recently, he was SAA’s cargo manager, UK and Ireland.
