SA wine scores top marks in US market

A glowing A-grade report card has been issued for South Africa’s Two Oceans wines by no less exacting a ‘teacher’ than international wine critic, Robert Parker. Parker’s ‘Wine Advocate’ reviewer, David Schildknecht, scored the 2007 Two Oceans Shiraz 87 points and the 2008 Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc, both of which sell for around US$9, 86 points Two Oceans brand manager Brad Gold says these positive ratings bode well for the brand in the US where it is making solid headway amongst the multiple retailers. What is more, ‘Wine Advocate’ has an international readership so the message will be spreading well beyond the shores of the US. The brand continues to gain altitude in Canada, Sweden and South Africa, its largest markets, with robust, double-digit increases in all three countries. It has also posted good growth throughout the Scandinavian bloc, in Germany, The Netherlands, Japan and New Zealand.
