The Southern African Transport Conference 2023 (SATC 2023), which will focus on building and improving the resilience of the transport sector in the region, will be held in Pretoria from July 10-13.
The conference, which is now in its 41st edition, will spotlight the theme, 'Rethinking transportation: planning and building resilient systems to meet global externalities’.
The event is supported by the Department of Transport and the International Road Federation and takes place at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) International Convention Centre (ICC). There is a limited hybrid component to the event that is available to delegates who want to attend virtually.
According to SATC conference organisers, the event will engage all stakeholders in the transport sector on how to provide optimal, effective and efficient transport solutions to improve service delivery to better respond to the needs of all users of the region’s transport systems. It provides a platform for international dialogue on transport as an enabler of socio-economic development.
“It also serves as a forum for discussion and information exchange on the implementation of transport policy, strategy and technology applications for all aspects and modes of transportation,” SATC organisers said in a statement.
"Better cooperation between and engagement of all public and private sector stakeholders will be one of the key issues that will be debated and for which solutions will be sought and action plans formulated.”
