We appreciate acknowledgements by the public of Sars’ successes in raising the quality of service in line with the government principle of Batho Pele and the Sars Service Charter. Sars is the first to admit that there is still a long way to go. The relationship between Sars and the clearing and trading community has a lot of room for improvement from a law enforcement to a service-based paradigm. Both sides are still quick to blame each other for breakdowns in the relationship which remain too frequent. Internal Sars systems have a lot of room for improvement. Sars is upgrading its capabilities to this end and is getting rid of elements that belong in the old inefficient Sars including incompetent management and operating personnel.
Room for improvement in service levels
