Frustrated by the inaction of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), which has ignored its calls for action, residents of the Roodepoort suburb of Weltevredenpark have filled more than 80 potholes along the busiest routes in the area.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Panorama Residents Association (PRA), which is responsible for the area bounded by Jim Fouche Street, Hendrik Potgieter Drive, Tennis Street and JG Strydom Drive, and undertaken in conjunction with EC Security. The PRA’s annual membership fees funded the 875 kg of asphalt and tar required for the undertaking.
