Road accident statistics are on the rise following a decrease during the lockdown periods in 2020.According to the Namibian Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA), there were 81 more accidents reported in the first quarter of 2021 (810), compared to the 729 in the first quarter of 2020.Injuries increased by nearly 15%, from 1 316 to 1 511, and fatalities by nearly 12%, from 122 to 132.According to the World Bank, 73% of those injured and killed are aged between 15 and 64.This reverses a trend of declining road accidents from 2018.
