KEVIN MAYHEW RECENTLY APPOINTED chief executive officer of the Road Freight Association (RFA), Sipho Khumalo, is undertaking a nationwide series of visits to meet key players in the industry. Khumalo, a former deputy-director of the Department of Transport, says he intends to contact freight operators, representative bodies, drivers and even sex workers if necessary to get an idea of the dynamics of the challenges the industry must confront. Khumalo said the immediate challenges for the representative body were changing the perception about the industry regarding overloading and the implementation of BEE.
