Renfreight links with trade consultancy

Clients get access to a panoply of trade services

AN EXCLUSIVE partnership agreement has just been signed between forwarding major Renfreight Circle and the trade division of Deloitte & Touche.
It is designed to provide the forwarding company with access to D&T's global resource base and offer a full panoply of trade-related services and regulation advice.
In an industry which is highly regulated and exceedingly complex, it is imperative that we offer value-added services that will optimise opportunities for our clients, said Johan Marais, customs brokerage executive for Renfreight Circle.
A primary focus of the agreement is on a planned and proactive approach to trade regulations, according to Renfreight Circle's sales and marketing director, Bruce Thoresson.
For instance, he said, we are now in a position to offer businesses expert advice in terms of the various bi-lateral trade agreements that are being entered into by SA trade partners.
Although SA business could be capitalising to a far greater extent on existing trade agreements, part of the problem has been to demystify the regulation process and make it faster and more efficient.
The D&T package is designed to help business to become more aggressive in its approach, according to Duane Newman, partner in charge of trade investment.
From a corporate governance perspective, he said, it is crucial for firms to proactively manage their business risk when dealing in the movement of goods internationally, prevent themselves from missing attractive opportunities, and obtain the right pricing of goods for their markets.
The freight industry's role in offering the best expertise possible to SA business is absolutely vital for exporters - and certainly affects the economics of both business and the country.
