Reduced optimism for last year’s Q4 recovery

Figures for South Africa’s 4th quarter recovery last year may not be as strong as initially anticipated, the Bureau for Economic Research (BER) says.

Looking at recent data, the Bureau said last November’s figures had signalled some downside risk to 2020’s Q4 GDP.

However, the country’s economic quarter-on-quarter performance is still expected to be positive.

“But the slowdown after the strong Q3 rebound now looks to have been more pronounced,” the BER said.
