WHILE THERE are gloomy thoughts about declining tourism to SA, passenger numbers at Cape Town International Airport for December 2003 are significantly up on the same month in 2002 and hit a record level, according to the Airports Company of SA (ACSA). The airport handled 521 113 passengers - 33 998 more than in December 2002 and the first time it has handled over half-a-million passengers in a month.
