THE LARGEST export consignment of South African-built BMW vehicles left Durban last week en route to Southampton.
It is the first-ever order of the vehicles from this country destined for the UK.
The total value of the 700
3-series vehicles is R78m. BMW exported 4 000
vehicles in the same series last year, mainly to Australia.
With rising orders in this respect, the company has announced that its internal employment has been increased by about 25% with further increases likely in the future.
