THE FREIGHT forwarding industry lost one of its stalwarts last week with the sudden death of Ray Heale, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics South African national credit manager.
He was employed by a number of companies in the industry over the past 34 years, initially in Zimbabwe and for the past 22 years in South Africa. Aged 63, he died after a heart attack.
Affable and a thorough gentleman, he was passionate about the industry, with a special affiliation towards the aviation establishment, said Eagle Freight's Graham May, who was a colleague of Heale's for a number of years.
Combined with his consummate knowledge of the financial machinations of the forwarding industry, he was uniquely placed and a much sought after asset.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, and two children, Andrew and Pamela.
