Rangel South Africa has just announced an investment in the acquisition of 20 trucks to strengthen its current fleet, in line with its strategy to become a leading logistics operator specialising in cross-border transport in Africa’s largest gateway.
“This reinforcement of our fleet in South Africa reflects our continued commitment to the African continent and our focus on providing efficient, high-quality logistics solutions for our clients,” said Tiago Pocinho, country manager of Rangel South Africa and Zambia.
With regular import and export routes to a wide range of destinations, Rangel offers consolidated road freight services to several southern African destinations, including Maputo, Lusaka, Luanda, Harare, Gaborone, Windhoek, Lubumbashi/Kolwezi, and Dar es Salaam.
Focusing on fleet expansion and strengthening international road links, Rangel also operates its own cross-docking warehouse in Johannesburg and customs clearance offices at key borders with Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana: namely Komatipoort, Zeerust, Musina, and Groblersburg. This positions Rangel as a recognised customs agent for connections with Southern and Eastern Africa.
Since 2023, Rangel has focused on the mining sector, investing in specialised fleet acquisitions, ensuring different types of equipment, including Superlink Tautliners and Superlink Flatdecks, to provide the best solutions for its clients. In the same year, the company launched the Abnormal & Heavy Haul Solutions unit to support project cargo services for the mining industry. By 2024, responding to market demand, and using its expertise in road transport, Rangel launched the Hazardous, Explosives, Chemicals & Petrochemical unit, dedicated to cross-border transport.
“With the significant growth we’ve experienced across the African continent, and the expansion of our service portfolio, such as the new units and cross-border groupage service, we felt the need to enhance our infrastructure and invest in growing our teams,” added Pocinho.
In addition to its ongoing growth in countries like Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, and South Africa, Rangel has invested in local teams in countries like the DRC, Namibia, and Botswana, to cover all major entry points and port corridors in the SADC region (Southern African Development Community).
