R100 000 worth of counterfeit goods seized at warehouse

Police seized counterfeit goods worth R100 000 at a warehouse in Johannesburg on Thursday night, an official said.

"There were hundreds and hundreds pairs of shoes," said Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
Two men were arrested at the warehouse in Heronmere Road in Booysens.

After being nabbed by the police, the two men allegedly attempted to bribe the officers with R10 000.
"They will appear in court on charges of possession of suspected counterfeit goods and bribery and corruption," said Minnaar.

He said the goods were mainly takkies and sandals and other footwear for men and women, all of them fake big name brands.
