TRANSNET NATIONAL Ports Authority (TNPA) has arranged a series of public consultative meetings to give port users the opportunity to comment on the draft Port Rules and Harbour Master’s Written Instructions. Once finalised the Port Rules will be issued in terms of the National Ports Act (Act 12 of 2005), and the Harbour Master’sWritten Instructions. Copies of the draft rules are available on the Transnet website (www.transnet. net) but copies can also be purchased from the TNPA for a fee of R50.00, to cover photocopying costs. Interested and affected parties can submit written comments to the TNPA by 17:00 on November 19, 2007 for the attention of Gaynor Kast, Transnet National Ports Authority spokesperson (011 351 9021 or 083 271 4350). The public meetings will be held at the ports of Cape Town, October 29; Saldanha Bay October 30; Durban, November 1; Richards Bay, November 2; Mossel Bay November 5; Port Elizabeth, November 6; and East London November 7. During the meeting, explanations of the draft Port Rules and Harbour Master’s Written instructions (and their consequences) will be provided and questions answered. Recordings will be made of all views and comments expressed by members of the audience.
