A WELL-KNOWN personality in the air cargo industry has just taken over as administrative manager of the CASS billing system for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Johannesburg. Nancy Pronto is the name that goes with this new appointment - someone who has been in airfreight for over 25-years, representing the cargo interests of such airlines as PanAm, Swissair Cargo and, most recently, Swiss World Cargo. Her experience in the airline industry, and her familiarity with most of the airfreight agents, make her a valuable capture, according to Hans de Lange, IATA regional manager. “Finally, we have a manager for CASS,” he said. “She will be the administrator of the system, and will be completely responsible for liaison with both the airlines and agents.” One early task will be refresher courses around the country for agents, De Lange added, which are due to be put into focus this year. “I am sure that Nancy will be able to heal a lot of the wounds that were done to CASS when it was first introduced very unsuccessfully to the industry in SA,” he told FTW, “and to build up a satisfied membership.”
