According to the Government Gazette notice the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) Minister issued a directive on 3 July instructing ITAC to investigate whether the PPS on the exportation of scrap metal was achieving the objectives of the Policy. ITAC investigated, requested public comments and implemented initial amendments to the PPS published on 2 October 2020. Information received during the abovementioned investigation and information provided in the public comments indicated that further amendments were required to ensure that the PPS was strengthened. Public comments are herewith invited on the further proposed amendments to the PPS Policy Guidelines published on 2 October on the exportation of ferrous and non-ferrous waste and scrap metal.
