DSV Skyservices is now technologically and operationally integrated into DSV Air & Sea, completing a process which began when DSV AS acquired Skyservices majority owner Panalpina in September 2019.
The combined DSV Skyservices and DSV Air & Sea offering has made an impact over the past nine months, offering:
- Existing Air & Sea customers the added value of end-to-end export solutions for perishables from South Africa to Europe, the Middle East, Far East and the USA, and import solutions from various markets, including Africa.
- DSV Skyservices’ customers access an extended global presence, e-commerce possibilities, cross-silo opportunities in distribution, long haul, last mile delivery and cross border, and much more.
While the companies have been working together since the acquisition in September, the official go-live on 1 June 2020 saw DSV Skyservices become technologically and operationally integrated into DSV Air & Sea.
Operating from world-class facilities at OR Tambo International and Cape Town International airports, DSV Skyservices provides freight forwarding and related logistics and documentation processes to exporters and importers of fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat, fish and other perishables.
Perishables make up 40% of South Africa’s air freight exports, and globally it is a significant business, with DSV operating in more than 26 countries. There are opportunities to grow the category in Southern Africa, and DSV Skyservices is well placed to leverage the many attributes it now brings to the table.

DSV Skyservices runs a 2,000 m2 warehouse inside OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, and a purpose-built, 1,700 m2 warehouse just outside Cape Town International Airport, which means there is no need for third party handling pre-hand in.
