On 24 July 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced an increase in the ‘General’ rate of customs duty in Part 1 of Schedule No 1 of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 (Ordinary Customs Duty) on ‘peanut butter’, classifiable in tariff subheadings 2008.11.11, 2008.11.15 and 2008.11.19, from 0.99c/kg to 20% ad valorem.
