Kevin Mayhew ABOUT TO celebrate its first year operating as CMA CGM Shipping Agencies South Africa, the Gauteng-headquartered national agency reports a successful year handling imports mainly from Asia and exports to West Africa and various global ports of discharge. In South Africa the agency is a joint venture between CMA CGM-The French Line, currently ranked 5th globally, and The Grindrod Group. “We have expanded our team to provide more sales and after-sales service and are looking forward to an imminent change in one of our services to provide a platform for success in the future,” general manager Pam Yerushalmy told FTW. CMA-CGM offers a weekly service to South Africa from Asia and on to South America .This service is further bolstered by The WAX service offering three sailings per month out of Asia through Durban and on to West Africa. An extensive cross trade service is offered via transhipment in Europe, affording the South African market the opportunity of transport to and from a multitude of global ports.
