Too many cooks spoil
the broth – and the same
applies in the project cargo
environment, said Byron
Nieuwstad, managing director
of Storage Solutions.
“Too many third parties are
involved with projects. This
places an immediate strain
on project budgets,” he told
FTW.
Heavily involved in the
project industry, offering
storage and handling facilities
for the short-, medium- and
long-term, Storage Solutions’
expertise lies in cargo
handling for projects, imports
and exports.
“There is a lot of potential
in the industry for expansion
and with so many projects
taking place growth is
definitely on the cards for
many companies involved in
the project sector,” he said.
But, with companies
getting too many third party
companies involved in
projects, budgets are under
pressure.
“Being able to award
projects to one company with
the correct handling capacity
is where the solution lies,”
said Nieuwstad. “A one-stop
shop eliminates too many
fingers in the project pie.”
He says with a lot of
medium-sized projects on the
go at present, more and more
role-players are entering the
market, but everyone seems to
be keeping their cards close to
their chests.
“It is very difficult to
give any forecasts or trend
predictions at present as many
stakeholders are not sharing
information readily.”
