NSRI gears up for 40th anniversary

NEXT YEAR will mark the 40th anniversary of the National Sea Rescue Institute which has saved thousands of people from becoming drowning statistics. A registered non-profit community organisation, its fleet of 57 purpose-designed rescue craft is operated by 700 highly skilled volunteers. “As a non-profit organisation, covering our annual running cost of R10m is largely reliant on sponsorships. Safmarine, the National Ports Authority and the Oceana Group are among our maritime sponsors,” Elane Burger, NSRI’s Gauteng representative, told the TBN Maritime Lunch in Johannesburg last week. The TBN arranges maritime industry networking lunches every second month.
