South Africans can expect a relief from load shedding until at least May 2016, relieving pressures on the manufacturing sector.
Speaking in parliament today (Wednesday), Eskom CEO Brian Molefe highlighted that although maintenance on Eskom’s aging fleet has been increased, severe loading shedding has been avoided for over 80 days, reports Fin24.
“We are doing all that maintenance without load shedding,” said Molefe. “We will step up our maintenance in December as everyone goes on holiday. We will add quite a lot of units to the maintenance programme to catch up on backlog,” he added.
“Going forward it won’t be necessary to update (the public on these daily load shedding stats), as having electricity will become a normal thing,” said Molefe.
