New Johannesburg branch manager of Maersk Logistics, Brent Nielsen, brings to the position a fully integrated background Ð both in terms of training and practical experience Ð with Maersk Sealand. Cape Town born, Nielsen is one of the company's MISE apprenticeship graduates. He has been with the A.P.Moeller group for seven years during which he has held posts in Copenhagen, Hamburg and South Africa. He was national import manager based in Cape Town before relocating to Johannesburg to take on the logistics challenge. The major objectives of the Johannesburg office are twofold, says Nielsen. "Maersk Logistics has a large global customer base. Our intention is to extend our local services to these global customers, many of whom are active in Johannesburg. "Secondly, the Johannesburg market is huge in terms of clearing and forwarding, and many of these customers we believe will require supply chain management services. We therefore intend growing our forwarding customer base as a starting point. "
