STILL IN an expansion frame of mind, Air Menzies International (AMI) has two more international acquisitions currently in negotiation, and the USA is also likely to see more branches and sales agents in the coming year. This followed its March takeover of MMA – its former service partner in South Africa, which AMI described as one of its historically most important markets. The latest happening has been a re-branding exercise, with the UAC name – which has featured in the US airfreight scene for 20-years – set to disappear this month, as the trade-only airfreight wholesaler, acquired by AMI in April 2007, adopts its new parent’s identity in the final phase of its integration. AMI’s vice-president (Americas) Peter Burn told FTW that the company was continuing to look at opportunities for further expansion.
