New Maputo Port CEO spells out priorities

JOY ORLEK PETER LOWE has taken over from Alec Don as CEO of the Maputo Port Development Corridor. Don completed his tour of duty at the end of 2004 and has returned to the UK. Lowe’s impressive CV spans a range of disciplines and experience across the globe, most recently as director of the port of Liverpool. “Liverpool handles about 31 million tonnes of cargo a year, spanning a wide product range, and this has provided me with a wealth of experience in port operations of all types,” he told FTW. “I have made it my priority to try to resolve the problems of the Ressano Garcia railway concession and the 24-hour opening of the border, and there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel on both issues,” he said.
