Jan de Vries has been
appointed managing director
of Cornelder de Moçambique,
which runs the port of Beira.
He succeeds Adelino
Mesquita, who was killed in
an air crash along with other
senior managers in March
2017.
De Vries has been a senior
official of Cornelder de
Mozambique since 2009,
and has held the post of
commercial director for the
last two years.
He has coordinated several
successful port development
projects.
De Vries heads up a new
management structure for
the port, which consists of the
managing director, a deputy
managing director and four
area directors.
“These changes arise in
response to the air accident
which claimed the lives
of four members of the
management of Cornelder
de Mozambique in March
2017,” says a statement by the
company.
