AIRLINE FREIGHT Services (AFS), a joint venture between Manica in the Rennies group and The Cargo Connection, has been established to operate as a g.s.a. for SAA Cargo and DHL Aviation flights in and out of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The agreement also allows for a similar operation with flights to Mozambique, Namibia and Malawi which will be activated in the near future, says Gerd von Mansberg, director of
The Cargo Connection.
The plan is to sell space on the regional network of the affected airlines, which includes destinations such
as Luanda, Lilongwe, Johannesburg and, in the near future, Mauritius. The hub
is Harare.
It will also be the duty of AFS to sell long-haul flights between these destinations and Brussels, says Von Mansberg.
Currently there are five flights per week between Harare and Brussels, with daily flights between Harare and Johannesburg, four per week between Lusaka and Harare, two serving Lilongwe and one to Luanda.
