The construction of a new US$120-million terminal at the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana, will boost regional integration, according to president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina.
He stated that the project – funded by the AfDB – would “help the economy and society of Ghana through enhanced regional integration and employment” by improving the air transport sector in the country.
Adesina pointed out that the new terminal would contribute to Ghana’s economy, reduce the cost of doing business, improve competitiveness, and create a lot of business and employment.
Construction of the terminal, designed to cater for expected growth of demand in air traffic, is expected to be completed in April 2018.
“Ghana’s aviation industry has witnessed significant growth in the past decade due to the discovery of petroleum and gas reserves in the country, sustained demand and [an] increase in the tourism sector,” said Adesina.
