MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL Shipping Corp's new ASA (Asia/South Africa service) run in conjunction with K-Line and PIL is now up and running and looking for strong growth.
Employing six vessels, the service runs weekly from both Durban and Cape Town, offering speedy transit times into Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shekou.
Cargo will be accepted to Australia, New Zealand, Indian Sub-Continent, South East Asia and the Far East and MISC will be accepting both dry and reefer cargoes with a reefer allocation of approximately 100 plugs per week.
Chantel Roach, Cape Town branch manager for Bridge Marine, agents for MISC and Mer Austral, says two of the six vessels, those owned by MISC, are of 1 450TEU capacity, the remainder 1 200TEU.
The ASA service is a new departure following the demise of the Safari service in April and Roach is confident of strong growth on both reefer and dry cargo.
