THERE’S BEEN a slight change of procedure for shippers applying for customs code numbers. According to Deloitte, Customs branch offices will in future help South African Revenue Services (SARS) head office with the processing of DA185 registration forms and associated queries. Previously submissions for updated or new customs registrations could only be submitted directly to the customs code numbers section at head office. These can now be submitted to a branch office first.
