New course equips sales people with operational skills

ALAN PEAT IN AN attempt to extend the limited pool of experienced people in sales, customer service and international tracking in the SA shipping industry, the Johannesburg-based Gerber Shipping Academy has launched a new hands-on course in practical training for these industry sectors. This, according to the academy’s founder, Gwen Gerber, is aimed at sales people who lack the shipping knowledge to sell this service – and at training those staff in seafreight import tracking and customer service to work as a team for the same company. The academy is in the process of obtaining approval from the sector Education and Training Authority, for the new course.
