New contract cements Unicorn/BP's symbiotic relationship

UNICORN LINES and BPSA last Friday celebrated a long-term relationship with the signing of a 5-year contract for BP to supply marine lubricants to the Unicorn and Griffin fleets.
BP Marine's world-wide supply capability has become increasingly important to Unicorn as their operations have developed from a coastwise operator to a truly international shipping company with the majority of the fleet trading globally, said Unicorn marine director Robert Young.
Unicorn is an important supplier to BPSA who charter considerable tonnage of tanker space to transport finished hydrocarbon products along the East African coast.
BP recently chartered the m.t. Luchegorsk from Unicorn to meet fuel transport requirements off Tanzania. Similarly the recently built products tanker, m.t. Hambisa, is on a 5-year charter to BP.
BP Marine's bulk lubricants are all shipped on Unicorn's coastwise container vessels.
Additionally, King & Sons, a company within the Grindrod Unicorn Group, provides ships agency services for BP Shipping VLCCs visiting Durban, said BP Marine g.m. Steve Wright.
