New coal export terminal planned

LEONARD NEILL A COAL export terminal is planned somewhere along the southern African coast by Indian power-generating and coal trading company Sandro Power Supply, but the site is a closely kept secret. The Mumbai-based company announced its plan in a presentation made to the annual McCloskey Coal Conference in Cape Town earlier this month. The site of the source of the material to be exported would suggest the building of a new terminal in the port of Maputo or the expansion of the present coal and ore terminal in the port as the most likely possibilities. An alternative may be a terminal it will build at the proposed new port south of the Mozambique capital, though plans for this are somewhat unclear at present. Sandro says it will have the answer to the question when further details are released.
