First job: Remedial teacher in London. Freight industry start: I was teaching in Durban (not challenged), and read an advertisement for a sales executive position with Micor Shipping. Industry challenges: Travel into tough corners of Africa co-ordinating and designing logistics solutions for mining or other project applications; these demanding projects are not for the fainthearted! Influential person in shaping your career: In shipping, Chris Hart (ex Micor, Profreight); in my professional (psychological) career, Professor Deon de Bruin (University of Johannesburg) for his constant encouragement. Best personal/professional achievement: The completion of my doctorial degree; to have played a part in the creation of a loving son and beautiful granddaughter.
