Namibian grapes get the US green light

SOUTH AFRICA now has a sub-Saharan competitor in the grape export stakes to the US. After a 6-year battle, Namibian fresh table grapes are now allowed into that country after meeting the strict sanitary requirements. The Namibian industry has been exporting table grapes to the European Union (EU) and produces some 3.4-million 4.5-kilogram cartons a year for export – worth around R100-m.
