Transporters are advised that the N3 highway in the vicinity of Heidelberg will most likely be closed until this afternoon because of a serious accident, the Transit Assistance Bureau (Transist) has reported.

Although detail is still coming through, footage posted by Transist shows that at least four vehicles were involved in the collision – a car, light delivery vehicle (LDV), bakkie, and a truck.

Gathering from the wreckage of the car, it’s highly unlikely that any of its occupants will have survived the accident.

The footage also shows the truck lying on its side and the LDV on its roof.

Transist also reported an accident on the northbound side of the N3 between the Pavilion Shopping Centre and Marion Hill Toll Plaza.

At 9am this morning, traffic was said to be proceeding at a snail’s pace past the scene of the accident.
