Moz oil refineries on the cards

THERE COULD two oil refineries
operating in Mozambique by the middle
of the next decade if all goes according
to plan.
One will be based at Nacala in the
north of the country, and the second in
the district of Matutuine in the
far south.
According to the Mozambican news
agency AIM, the southern refinery is a
project of Oilmoz, which recently signed
a Memorandum of Understanding with
PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PWC), which
will undertake a feasibility study.
The total capacity of the refinery is
expected to be 350 000 barrels a day,
and it will cost in the region of
US$8-billion to build.
