More and more airfreight enquiries from auto sector

THE MOVEMENT of automotive parts and components on worldwide routes is a growing business sector, says Linex Air Services director, Martine Forbes. As general sales agent for Cathay Pacific and Dragonair, the company has noted a growing number of enquiries on all its routes, with Europe, China, India and the Far East by far the most lucrative. “Although automotive is not the largest section of our business, we are getting more and more enquiries from this sector of the market. We did not push the sector originally, but the growing traffic movement has boosted our volumes.” And while uncertainty regarding the future of the Motor Industry Development Programme is a concern, Forbes believes that small to medium express shipments will always be a requirement in any market. “We are not expecting it to have a major effect on our business,” she said. The biggest challenge in the year ahead, in her view, is growing competition. “We will work at establishing ourselves as the premium service provider for imports and exports to our major markets and targeting industries that are looking for a hands-on service provider as a business partner.”
