MOL to build ten more car carriers

MITSUI OSK Lines this week revealed plans to build 10 large car carriers to be delivered from 2007 to 2009. This follows the delivery of a series of six carriers in 2003 and 12 between 2004 and 2006. In all, MOL will have 28 of the same class of vessel. Like the 12 carriers currently being delivered or under construction, the 10 newest vessels will offer the most advanced features to improve environmental friendliness, loading / discharging efficiency, and safety. Steady growth in worldwide trade volumes will see the fleet of MOL-operated or owned car carriers increasing from the current 74 to over 90 in 2009, a spokesman said.
