MAFIKA MKWANAZI, deputy managing director of Transnet, has been appointed md-designate with immediate effect following an announcement last week by managing director Saki Macozoma that he will not make himself available when his contract expires in March 2001.
At the same time Mkwanazi relinquishes his post as chairman of South African Airways and has been replaced with immediate effect by Transnet executive director Bheki Sibiya.
Macozoma and Mkwanazi will work together for the next seven months 'to ensure a smooth transition.
