Memorandum addresses TransKalahari issues

A MEMORANDUM of Understanding (MoU) has been prepared by representatives of the three countries - Namibia, South Africa and Botswana - involved in the operation of the TransKalahari Highway and is now awaiting signature from the three governments before implementation. The final draft MoU was completed at a trilateral gathering in Walvis Bay last week where South Africa and Botswana were both represented by their high commissions in Namibia. The MoU addresses core issues such as customs, border operations, transport. traffic control and law enforcement. Border control and customs office hours have come in for particular attention.
