Eskom announced today that its Medupi Power Station had been declared a national key point, following the inauguration ceremony in Limpopo yesterday (Wednesday).
According to a statement, the facility will be the largest dry cooled power station in the world consisting of six super critical boilers and six turbine generator units with air cooled condensers.
The Medupi Power Station – expected to generate 4 764 MW once completed – will sustain electricity supply and reduce load shedding; therefore, for the safety and security of the asset, it is important it be declared a national key point as defined by the National Key Points Act, Eskom said in a press statement.
The state lost the court case preventing public access to the national key point list last year.
