In a drive to improve its competitive edge, Manica Namibia is upgrading its logistics centre and warehousing operations. According to managing director Pieter Greeff, the warehouse facilities are being consolidated while racking and rail links running through the warehouse of some 17 000 sqms are being reinstated. “A new state-of-the-art online tracking and tracing system is also being introduced to add value to the logistics services. A separate office block for our human resources department as well as a new training facility consisting of a 60-seat lecture theatre and a 20- seat computerised training room are also nearing completion.” With technological advances, logistics has transformed into a whole new ball game, says Greeff. “It’s one where clients demand expedient, cost-effective and allinclusive service delivery solutions on global scale. “It is vital that logistics companies of today have key account management systems in place,” says Greeff. “This ensures clients deal with one person throughout a project. The true test of a company’s logistics excellence does not rest in its large client base or profit margins, but in its capacity to handle any logistical situation or problem that requires skill, innovation, fast thinking and a workable solution.”
