MALAWIAN TRADERS are switching from Zimbabwe to Mozambique for new trade opportunities, according to the Trade Law Centre for Southern Africa. Difficulties in repatriating foreign currency from Zimbabwe combined with a new bilateral agreement between Mozambique and Malawi have motivated the move. The agreement between the two countries provides for duty and quota free treatment as well as the removal of non tariff barriers on all products from the two countries based on certificates of origin.
