Maersk’s new man in Africa

Underscoring its focus on growth in Africa, Maersk Line has appointed senior vice president Lars Reno Jakobsen to the newly created position of promoter and coordinator of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group’s business expansion on the continent, with particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. Jakobsen will take up the position from March 1. He is currently heading up the Network and Product division in Maersk Line. He joined the Group as a trainee in Maersk Drilling in 1977. Since 1998 he has been involved in Africa-related trade, and was based in Cape Town from 2002-2009. In his new role he will once again be based in Cape Town.
