CP Ships - owner of Lykes Lines - has recorded a record profit of US$49-million for the fourth quarter of 2003.
For the year overall, the company profit was US$131-m compared with US$83-m in 2002.
“With record operating income in the fourth quarter and up nearly 60% for the full year, and record volume and sales revenue for both the quarter and the year, we consider these to be outstanding results,” said Ray Miles, CEO of CP Ships.
For the full year, container carryings also reached a record - at 2.2-m TEUs being 9% higher than 2002.
